Interestingly, we also found that knock-down of a small group of phosphatases (GAK, ALPI, PPEF2, MDP1, PUDP) reduced LRRK2 levels leading to an inhibition of Rab10 protein phosphorylation (Figure 2F). Mutations in GAK (also known as Auxilin-2) have been linked to PD, as revealed by gemone-wide association studies (Nalls et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene LRRK2 and Parkinson disease.
