Using three curated mouse mapping datasets (F2 Dilute Brown non-Agouti (DBA/2)×DU6i intercrosses [23], female Non Obese Diabetic (NOD)×(NOD×129S1/SvImJ.H2g7) N2 backcross [24], and male Nonobese Nondiabetic (NON)×New Zealand Obese (NZO/HlLtJ; T2DM model) backcrosses [11]) hosted by The Jackson Laboratories (ME) I detected several loci for randomized phenotypic dispersion in plasma leptin (PDpLep), several of which were linked to insulitis loci. The gene discussed is LEP; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
