PVALB and schizophrenia: We specifically examined the expression levels of Pvalb, because impairments of parvalbumin (Pvalb, PV)‐containing inhibitory GABA (γ‐aminobutyric acid) neurons in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is a well‐recognized finding in schizophrenia pathophysiology (Lewis et al, 2005), and PV‐positive GABA neurons are energy‐demanding because of high‐frequency firing (Tremblay et al, 2016).
