Amiodarone is a CYP3A inhibitor of unspecified strength and inhibits P‐glycoprotein37; cases of muscle toxicity including rhabdomyolysis have been reported in patients on both amiodarone and a statin.38, 39, 40 Importantly, this present study not only confirmed the impact of amiodarone on ATV hydroxylation, but extended the findings to demonstrate that amiodarone also inhibits ATV L hydroxylation, resulting in elevated ATV L exposure. The gene discussed is CYP3A4; the disease is rhabdomyolysis.
