SLC5A2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: In conclusion, canagliflozin showed anti-steatotic and anti-inflammatory effects that attenuated the development of NASH in the present mouse model of diabetes/NASH/HCC, and prevented the progression of NASH to HCC, partly due to the induction of cell cycle arrest and/or apoptosis, or the reduction of tumor growth through the direct inhibition of SGLT2 in tumor cells.
