We recently reported that the SGLT2 inhibitor dapagliflozin improves hepatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes and NAFLD, and attenuates liver fibrosis in patients with significant fibrosis [11], suggesting that SGLT2 inhibitors have an anti-fibrotic effect on human NASH. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
