Similarly, our result revealed that in vitro silencing MCPIP1 suppressed Ang-II-induced VSMC apoptosis and down-regulated Ang-II-upregulated MMP2 and MMP9 expressions, suggesting that the elevated MCPIP1 in AAA is associated with VSMCs apoptosis and MMPs production, and inhibition of MCPIP1 expression may contribute to the survival of VSMCs from inflammatory environment and maintain elasticity of aortic wall.
