CD19-specific CAR T cell therapy for the treatment of CD19-positive B cell malignancies such as B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), or chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) has had remarkable success (5–8), resulting in their recent US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. The gene discussed is CD19; the disease is B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
