At 21 days post infection (dpi), compared to type II-infected mice, type III-infected mice showed a higher number of macrophages/microglia, infiltrating T cells, and levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g IFN-γ) in the CNS, even though type II- and type III-infected mice showed the same CNS parasite burden.
