A study by Tian et al [36], investigated miR-16 expression in ulcerative colitis (UC), a chronic inflammatory colonic disease characterized by accumulation of T-cells in the colonic mucosa and submucosa, and has suggested that the use of miR-16 mimics resulted in nuclear translocation and activation of NF-κ B signaling pathway with enhanced expression of IFN-γ and IL-8. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and ulcerative colitis.
