Overall, the analysis showed that the relationship between three MMP-8 variants and cancer susceptibility was not significant (allelic contrast, C-799 T: OR = 0.98, 95% CI = 0.92–1.04, Pheterogeneity = 0.068; Lys460Thr: OR = 0.94, 95% CI = 0.67–1.32, Pheterogeneity = 0.905; Lys87Glu: OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 0.93–1.18, Pheterogeneity = 0.968). This evidence concerns the gene MMP8 and cancer.
