mTOR plays a pivotal role in controlling cell proliferation and survival.36 Here, we found that GLPT, a standardized G. lucidum extract containing both polysaccharides and triterpenes, inhibited cell proliferation and induced cell death and concurrently suppressed mTORC1-mediated phosphorylation of S6K1 and 4E-BP1 and mTORC2-mediated phosphorylation of Akt in human lung cancer cells (A549 and A427 cells). The gene discussed is MTOR; the disease is lung carcinoma.
