IL6 and renal carcinoma: We chose 769-P and ACHN cells to examine the expression of phosphorylated STAT3 and metastasis-related genes MMP2 and MMP9 and found that IL6 increased the activation of STAT3 and MMP2 in both cell types, and the IL6 effect was partially attenuated by the anti-IL6 antibody, implying that the IL6/STAT3/MMP2 pathway plays a significant role in the promotion of metastasis in renal cancer.
