Although mutations of YBX1 are rare [∼1% in all cancers types (Cerami et al., 2012; Gao et al., 2013)], overexpression of YB-1 is found in a wide range of cancers and is often associated with poor prognosis (Lasham et al., 2013), including NSCLC and MPM. Here, YBX1 is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
