SCGB1A1 and Sepsis: Considering that functional and phenotypic alterations of monocytes/macrophages play an important role in sepsis development and due to the potent anti-inflammatory biology of CC16, we hypothesize that an early upregulation of the pro-inflammatory response by local CC16 neutralization will deteriorate the dynamic changes in monocyte and macrophage subsets and early lung damage in a murine trauma model of sepsis after blunt chest trauma.
