Several studies have proven the overlap of different neuropathological lesions such as neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs; tau), Lewy bodies (α-synuclein) or prions with Aβ pathology in brains of patients with neurodegenerative diseases like AD, PD, Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) (McKeith et al., 1996; Braak and Braak, 1997; Hamilton, 2000; McKeith, 2000, 2006; Ferrer et al., 2001; Tsuchiya et al., 2004; Debatin et al., 2008; Hyman et al., 2012; Jaunmuktane et al., 2015). The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Creutzfeldt Jacob disease.
