Vascular endothelial injury is an important cause of hypertensive disease in pregnancy.11 The imbalance of angiogenesis/anti‐angiogenic factors in the maternal circulation plays a key role in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.24, 25 The level of sEng in serum increased before the onset of preeclampsia symptoms.15 STAT4 was significantly higher in placenta of preeclampsia patients than that of normal late pregnant women.22 This evidence concerns the gene STAT4 and preeclampsia.
