NF1 and schwannoma: Schwannoma originating from the lumbar nerve is a rare and slowly growing tumor, which arises most commonly in the peripheral nervous system.[1] The cause of schwannomas is still unknown, and its pathogenesis may be related to a lack of a mutation in NF1, which is associated with neurofibromatosis type I.[2] Extraspinal schwannomas occur in the head, neck, upper and lower limbs, and posterior mediastinum.
