In melanoma, cells with high expression of KDM5B (JARID1A), a histone demethylase, have deregulated bioenergetics and are characterized by a sustained up-regulation of proteins involved in the electron transport chain, the multiprotein enzymatic complexes responsible for mitochondrial respiration, as well as a significant down-regulation of glycolytic enzymes [76,77]. This evidence concerns the gene KDM5B and melanoma.
