Subjects who were homozygous for the major allele have higher serum IFN-λ3 levels compared to those carrying at least one copy of the minor allele in the entire ELISA sub-cohort (median 23.48 (4.28–77.5) vs. 18.35 (4.44–68.3), p = 0.2) and after stratification according to patients with and without pulmonary fibrosis), but this was not significant (Supplementary Figure 2). The gene discussed is IFNL3; the disease is pulmonary fibrosis.
