cMS mutations of some special genes, such as TGFβRII and Bax (Rampino et al. 1997; Wang et al. 1995), seem to trigger tumourigenesis in MMR-deficient cells, leading to functional inactivation of genes involved in many pathways related to crucial characteristics of cancers (Woerner et al. 2006).
