Patients with IBD and sarcopenia had significantly lower BMI and preoperative serum albumin levels and significantly higher CRP levels than the non-sarcopenic patients (WMD: 2.698 kg/m2, 95% CI 1.507–3.889, p < 0.001; I2 = 52.39%, p = 0.078; WMD: 3.276 g/dL, 95% CI 0.022–0.623, p = 0.035; I2 = 90.74%, p < 0.001 and WMD: 12.740 mg/L, 95% CI 7.154–18.326, p < 0.001; I2= 0%, p = 0.524, respectively). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and sarcopenia.
