Liver diseases with detection of conventional AIH autoantibodies (ANA, ASMA, and anti-LKM antibody), along with histologic characteristics consistent with autoimmune hepatitis (i.e., interface hepatitis, lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate, and bridging fibrosis) have been reported in dozens of adult patients receiving anti-TNFα therapy to treat various autoimmune diseases. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is autoimmune hepatitis.
