This experimental approach was also successfully used by our team in describing molecular targets and the subsequent effective treatment of several pediatric malignancies, such as Maffucci syndrome, which is characterized by multiple hemangiomas and enchondromas with a tendency to progress into malignancy (12), infantile myofibromatosis, in which PDGFR beta hyperphosphorylation is detected (13), or fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (14). Here, PDGFRB is linked to infantile myofibromatosis.
