A large study using 900 autopsy-confirmed cases of AD from the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center (NACC) data to study the effect of psychosis and APO ε4 on cognition found that hallucinations were significantly associated with worse cognition, and that the presence of APO ε4 attenuated this relationship (Qian W et al., 2018). The gene discussed is AOPEP; the disease is psychotic disorder.
