Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), the ligand for the receptor, and MET expression have been observed in tumour biopsies of most solid tumours and MET signalling has been documented in a wide range of human malignancies, including bladder, breast, cervical, colorectal, gastric, head and neck, liver, lung, ovarian, pancreatic, prostrate, renal and thyroid cancers, as well as in various sarcomas, haematopoietic malignancies and melanoma [1, 2]. This evidence concerns the gene MET and thyroid gland carcinoma.
