CD163 and myocardial infarction: It has been well established that the inflammatory response is beneficial for MI healing in the early stages of infarct, but it is deleterious in the late phase of scar formation and LV remodelling.49 In the present study, the density of pro‐inflammatory cells (CD45+ leucocytes and CD68+ macrophages) was significantly decreased, and the density of anti‐inflammatory cells (CD206+ macrophages and CD163+ macrophages) was significantly increased in early moderate exercise MI hearts compared with sedentary MI hearts.
