IGHE and asthma: In contrast to other helminths considered as strong immunosuppressors, ascariasis has been mainly recognized as an epidemiological risk factor for asthma presentation and severity, which could be biologically explained by the presence of IgE binding molecules cross-reacting with house dust mite (HDM) and other environmental allergens (5) and by its larval migration through the lung that permits a direct exposure to these allergenic molecules (6).
