An independent study by Pestka et al. found that ω-3 PUFAs-enriched diets delayed the onset and markedly attenuated the severity of autoimmune glomerulonephritis, plasma autoantibodies, and proteinuria in the B/W F1 mice (100); importantly, such suppression of autoimmunity was found to correlate with a generalized reduction of CD4+ T cell-specific gene expression in the kidneys and/or spleens of the SLE mice (100). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and Autoimmunity.
