In contrast, and in line with observations in C57BL/6 mice, DMBT1, a mucus‐associated glycoprotein that inhibits bacterial attachment to IECs, was found in higher abundance following infection (3.60 Log2 FC, Figure 3d; Rosenstiel et al., 2007); qRT‐PCR showed significant transcriptional induction of Dmbt1 from 3 DPI (Figure 3e) earlier than observed in C57BL/6 mice (8 DPI; Hopkins et al., 2019). The gene discussed is DMBT1; the disease is infection.
