CNP and arthritic joint disease: Finally, C‐type natriuretic peptide (CNP) is a natriuretic peptide involved in cartilage homeostasis.16 CNP has been found to stimulate cell proliferation at concentrations of 10–100 pM and matrix deposition at 10 nM in bovine chondrocytes.17 Furthermore, overexpressing CNP in chondrocytes in the K/BxN TCR mouse model of arthritis was shown to reduce cartilage damage.18
