Blinded immunohistochemical assessment demonstrated higher immunoreactivity for phosphorylated FAK in the epithelium at the edge of ZINC40099027-treated ulcers vs. DMSO-treated ulcers (Fig. 5e,f; 2.83 ± 0.25 vs 2.15 ± 0.06 on a 1 to 4 scale, n = 6, p < 0.05). This evidence concerns the gene PTK2 and ulcer disease.
