Liver from infected mice exhibited increased percentages of TAG, free fatty acids, and free cholesterol, suggestive of hepatic dyslipidemia, and our quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) results corroborated this by revealing a decreased hepatic mRNA expression of PPAR-α, PGC-1α, and CPT1-A during infection. Here, PPARGC1A is linked to metabolic syndrome.
