Altogether, the analysis of chondrosarcomas molecular profiles uncovered three major molecular features involved in cartilage tumor progression: IDH mutations implicating broad hypermethylation of the genome, the regional loss of expression of the 14q32 locus and in particular of the cluster of microRNAs at this location, and a transcriptomic state indicator of high mitotic potential. This evidence concerns the gene IDH1 and chondrosarcoma.
