The intestinal flora in ALS mice expressing mutant human superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1G93A) is distinct from wild-type (WT) animals, with greater intra-communal diversity, differences in specific microbial flora (Blacher et al., 2019) and fewer butyrate-producing bacteria (Wu et al., 2015). Here, SOD1 is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
