VEGFA and hypertensive disorder: Nevertheless, while aortic stiffness depends largely on BP, the former is a major predictor of all-cause mortality, and angiogenic indices of hypertension, such as angiotensin II, vascular endothelial growth factor, and oxidative stress, have been linked to the development of cancer.30 Furthermore, aortic stiffness has been linked etiologically to inflammation and oxidative stress,24,31 which in turn participate in the pathophysiological characteristics of diseases that carry increased fatality, such as cancer and chronic inflammatory diseases.
