The response of the NHLRC2 mutant macrophages to S. Typhimurium was studied at more physiologically relevant MOIs, and strong resistance to Salmonella infection was still observed (e.g., at an MOI of 10, uptake of Salmonella GFP-positive cells was decreased to just 28.8% ± 0.8% compared with the WT control cells) (Fig. 4D).
