Transgenic adenocarcinoma mouse prostate (TRAMP) model is constructed to mimic human prostate cancer progression ranging from mild intraepithelial hyperplasia to large multinodular malignant neoplasia with distant site metastasis by using the prostate epithelia-specific rat probasin promoter (-426/+28 bp) to drive expression of simian virus 40 large tumor antigen-coding region (Tag) which induces oncogenic progression after binding to and inactivating tumor suppressors P53 and retinoblastoma associated protein (RB) 1, 2. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and prostate cancer.
