PTHLH and breast carcinoma: In a mouse model of breast cancer BM, a monoclonal antibody neutralizing parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTH-rP), a potent stimulator of osteoclastic bone resorption, suppressed BM [106]; in addition, ibandronate and tisedronate, two bisphosphonate analogues that are specific inhibitors of osteoclastic bone resorption, inhibited osteolytic bone metastases in women with breast cancer receiving hormonal therapy [107,108].
