Given that XMAP215 family members, including human ch-TOG, display a conserved association with the kinetochore’s Ndc80c [10,22,26,27,41,42], it will be important to investigate whether intrinsic tension-selectivity is a wide-spread feature of kinetochore-microtubule interactions, whether mutations that alter ch-TOG regulation [45,46] lead to defects in error correction, and whether these defects correlate with the increased rates of chromosome mis-segregation observed in most cancers.
