Therefore, mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to many types of human disorders and cancer progression.5 IMMT has been reported to be a mitochondrial protein that affects morphological structure and has a presumptive impact on mitochondrial function.6 Although little is known about the function of IMMT, alterations to this marker have been reported to be associated with different diseases including Down's syndrome,7 diabetic cardiomyopathy,8 and Parkinson's disease.9 However, the role of IMMT remains mostly unknown in cancers including NSCLC. This evidence concerns the gene IMMT and Down syndrome.
