Data indicating the efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade in breast cancer patients are mostly derived from phase I and II clinical trial results [6], and recently the first phase III trial results showed that the addition of the anti-PD-L1 antibody atezolizumab to nab-paclitaxel was associated with improved progression-free survival in patients with triple-negative metastatic breast cancer [7]. The gene discussed is CD274; the disease is breast carcinoma.
