Kullaya et al., 2018 found that platelets had an anti-inflammatory effect on the cytokine response of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) incubated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. (Kullaya et al., 2018). In recent years, studies have shown that the clinical value of the RDW is not limited to only the diagnosis of anemia. The RDW is positively correlated with the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and the levels of C-reactive protein, both of which reflect the inflammatory and disease activity within the body (Tecer et al., 2016). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is anemia.
