There are many studies reported that DNA methylation at specific CpG sites may affect the binding of transcription factors30, 31, 32; consequently, it is reasonable to speculate that the hypomethylation in the corresponding CpG sites has the potential to block transcription factor binding through interference with base recognition, thereby resulting in the altered C/EBPβ expression in endometrium from the patient with adenomyosis. Here, CEBPB is linked to adenomyosis.
