Inevitably, the NF-κB pathway has become an attractive target for therapeutic interventions in IBD, and many of the current drugs that are used to treat IBD either directly or indirectly influence NF-κB signaling (e.g., corticosteroids, anti-TNF monoclonal antibodies, and 5-aminosalicylates). This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and inflammatory bowel disease.
