BRAF and neoplasm: One study revealed a lower risk of tumor dissemination in patients with primary colorectal cancer,6 but on the other hand, in the metastatic state, BRAF mutated tumors were linked with poor prognosis,7 especially if associated with microsatellite stable tumors.8 Molecular analyses have been applied in methodological studies,9,10 but only one study has analyzed the prognostic value of KRAS and BRAF mutations in patients with colorectal peritoneal metastases.11 In that study, both mutations were associated with poor prognosis.
