We first targeted dCas9-VP16(10x) and dCas9-p300(core) to the IL1RN promoter, a gene which can be highly activated by CRISPRa (Cheng et al, 2013; Perez-Pinera et al, 2013; Hilton et al, 2015), and observed a similar level of activation for IL1RN with both dCas9 fusion constructs in Ishikawa cells, an endometrial cancer cell line (Fig S1B). Here, IL1RN is linked to endometrial cancer.
