VEGFA and diabetic kidney disease: Diabetic nephropathy commonly progressively manifests itself via haemodynamic and structural changes, which are often reflected by a decreased glomerular filtration rate and large amount of proteinuria.22 Studies have implicated hUSCs‐Exo in the process of wound repair in STZ‐induced diabetic mice.24 The key findings of the present study revealed that the hUSCs‐Exo overexpressing miR‐16‐5p could confer protection to HPDCs induced by HG, resulting in the suppression of VEGFA expression and podocyte apoptosis, and enhancement of podocyte proliferation.
