MiR-27a has also been proposed as a target in prostate cancer [49], although other reports showed that miR-27A acted as a tumor suppressor by targeting MAP2K4 and mediated prostate cancer progression [50], suggesting that miR-27a study may be an opportunity to combine therapies for prostate cancer and obesity/other metabolic diseases. Here, MAP2K4 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
