To test the hypothesis that irradiation-induced cell death promoted cancer cell dedifferentiation, we first confirmed that CD133+ cancer stem-like cells can be enriched by irradiation of primary pancreatic cancer cells from pancreatic carcinoma patients (P1, P2, and P3), or established pancreatic cancer cell line (PaTu8988) with clinically relevant doses in vitro (Fig. S1A). The gene discussed is PROM1; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
