One study shows that the antidepressant mechanism of silymarin may be associated with inhibition of neuroinflammation and NLRP3 inflammasome activation in CUMS-induced depression, at least in part proves that NLRP3 inflammasome activation is reduced by antidepressant treatment, and accordingly, it is a potential new target for the development of antidepressant strategies (Ashraf et al., 2019). The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is depressive disorder.
